Lachen is a town in North Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located at an elevation of 2,750 metres. The name Lachen means "big pass". The town is being promoted as a tourist destination by the Sikkimese government.
The gate way of North Sikkim is Gangtok. Number of beautiful falls, some are flowing on road, flowers and the beauty of the hills will not allow any one to close their eye. Glimpses of snowcapped mountains and adventure of approaching road is a lifetime experience to visitors. One thing always should keep in mind that the visit to North Sikkim is subject to availability of Protected Area Permit both for Indian and Foreign National Tourist.
